The Road to Ubuntu 9.04: Linux Kernel 2.6.28
It is only a day for the launch of Ubuntu 9.04 longed. In the series of posts “The Road to Ubuntu 9.04″ ido we describe the major developments which will this new version. Today we look at a third major innovation included with this distribution, version 2.6.28.
This version of the Linux kernel has been particularly due to media support for the final filesystem Ext4, which improves system performance and speeds up the function, especially in handling large files.
Linux 2.6.28 also includes the graphics memory manager GEM, which optimizes the use by the various components of the GPU. This was joined in support for wireless USB and UWB-IP, improved memory management and the management of network connections.
