There are times when we find it difficult to prove the benefits of some teams who assemble in the store.

Right now we are going with the ultra computers, or PCs with where we seek the maximum silence. It may seem silly, but in normal circumstances the atmosphere of the shop is too noisy to be able to test many of the solutions we use to reduce noise from a PC.

So at the workshop, we got lots of sounds that make it difficult to gauge the noise generated by a real PC:

• In the workshop there are always several teams on Repair, evidence-mounted … and not all are silent. As we have a PIV of the series D or an AMD Athlon 3 GHz of the first … then only we will listen to this team.
• The lights in the workshop, we have fluorescent tubes over the work tables. These tubes produce a background noise that is many times greater than the noise of the fans of 12cm. that assemble into many boxes. Or that the noise from power supplies Temperature.
• The traffic in the street where we store supports the passage of numerous cars and almost continuously … so it costs to locate where it comes from a buzz when you’re listening to move cars and motorcycles.
• The phone, which always sounds at the worst possible moment.
• The customers, it is normal to enter and clear talk …

So in the end, we have to prove when we close the store. But in winter is complicated. Let me explain. What we do is get off the shutters of the store, to minimize noise from the street. Moreover from eight o’clock in the afternoon, reduces traffic fairly. Then turn off all equipment, except that we want to prove. Turn off the lights, but in winter, with the lights off, because it costs nothing to see in the summer … nothing happens. At eight o’clock in the afternoon, there is still ambient light.

In winter, we have to make the final tests, on Saturday morning before opening, or Saturday at two in the afternoon, when we close, that’s what we’re doing now. This Saturday, we were with a HTPC, trying to hear the difference in noise between three different configurations of dissipating. And it’s funny, as in the end makes us a very fine ear for these things. And the worst thing is that many times after being a good time to refine the coolers, fans of a PC when the customer comes to take him, do not realize the little noise it does.
