New design of Boing Boing
August 28, 2007
I just read the post, Boing Boing design changes. The first thing that draws attention is that they have removed the left sidebar, doubling the size of the right. The design is more in line with what should be a re-design of a large web. The essence is the same, has been modernized just a little picture, with a slight change in the logo, and that, yes, it is now clearer and a design similar to the blog medium. Have opted to simplify things, all white and very little publicity in the Sidebar, which incidentally is AdSense (the webs are carried as big fat AdSense), which coexists with the typical 125 × 125 boxes of direct sponsors. But it has also added a menu of links at the bottom of the page, as well as feeds (?).
This implies that the user does not have too many options to browse the web, despite the top menu, which means more clicks on ads. From my point of view, a good change.
